Track Focus:
Global Genes is a leading rare disease patient advocacy organization. The Foundation’s mission is to eliminate the challenges of rare diseases by unifying the global rare disease community, building awareness, providing critical connections, creating resources and collaborations with rare disease stakeholders. Recognized worldwide by the Blue Denim Genes Ribbon(tm), Global Genes unites experts, advocates and patients to stand together in hope for treatments and cures for the estimated 7,000 rare diseases that impact approximately 30 million Americans and 350 million people worldwide.
Rare Diseases track involves an a phenom mobile application release to track participants called Recogynz. This app was developed to provide an accessible tool to assist healthcare practitioners in the identification of facial features that are associated with rare disorders. Hackers will get to play with iterations of this program and come up with other apps/usages of such technology. Rare Diseases is a HIGH PRIORITY at the NIH and one of the most well-funded areas of healthcare endeavors!
